Description Logics have recently attracted considerable attention, both in representing the concepts of an application domain and in reasoning about them. The powerful expressivity of Description Logics leads W3C to develop web standards enabling the description of contents and services in machine-readable. In this paper, we describe what description logics are and how they are used in knowledge base for  describing and retrieving information.
